I just changed the fuel filter on my 97 Honda Civic need help!?

I changed the fuel filter and car starts and runs fine, it's just that every morning or when ever the car has been sitting there for a long time when i start it, it's a little sluggish. Makes the kinda of noise when your tank is on empty and you go to start your engine (struggles a bit). It didn't do it before i changed the filter. What can be the problem? Is it because it's a new filter? or did i install it wrong? or what?

Hopefully, if you used teflon, you used liquid teflon rather than tape teflon which could affect your fuel line.

Otherwise, It's possible that your old fuel pump can't provide enough PSI to push fuel sufficiently through a new fuel filter. Whereas the old fuel filter may have had little resistance or filtering capacity.

You can buy a fuel pressure gauge which can be installed right on top of the fuel filter to make sure your fuel pump is providing enough PSI according to specifications.

Good luck!

It sounds like you may need a fuel pump. If it makes a loud humming noise in the tank, I would have the fuel pressure checked. Also check to make sure you installed the filter with the arrows facing in the right direction. I hope this helps.
the fuel filter is rather simple so you could not of have messed it up...it sounds more like the fuel pump or injectors...but before you do anything..try some octane booster and some fuel injector cleaner to see if it could get rid of some of the debri that you might have in the system...
make sure the lines are not kinked ??? fuel pumps are not a common problem with hondas, honda tech 10yrs.
