I have 2001 Pontiac Sunfire, that will not start, i just put in a new fuel filter, any suggestions?

It cranks up but will not turn over. I changed the fuel filter, and while under the hood, I checked the spark plug wires. 2 of them were not firing, perhaps bad wiring? Would bad 2 bad wires cause the car not to start?

the car would still start with two bad plug wires, you need to take it to a shop before you waste any more money on it guessing at it and throwing parts at it

A car will not run on 2 cylinders, change ALL the wires and it should run.
If it ran before you changed the filter. It's probably not the wires. Make sure you did not put the filter on backwards.
Check to make sure you didnt put the filter in backward( i am not sure of the type in the sunfire) also in what manner did you change the plugs. Did you pull all the wires off at the same time, then remove the plugs? Is there a chance that you might have miswired the plugs? Did you use the same wires for the new plugs? When you removed the wire from the plug, maybe you broke the wire inside the connector? just suggestions. check the main wire from the ECM
it sounds like you've got a coil pack out

on many newer vehicles there is one coil pack for every two cylinders

simply look at witch two wires have no fire and see of they are on the same coil pack
i thought you fuel filter under the car next to your gas tank!! check that one!! i do not know what do you changed under the hood but check that part again and make sure you had install right way!!!

you should changed all ignition cables or spark plug wires!!and plugs!!

then make sure you have gas in the tank!!
