Without a year - GM usally mounts Fuel filters behind the fuel tank
I'm changing my fuel filter in a 3.1 Beretta. Can anybody tell me were it is located?
follow the fule lines from the tank to the front of the car. the filter should be near the tank .
It is probably under the car, Look for a can with a fuel line coming in at one end and out the other. It is about the size of a pop can.

Buy the filter and you will know what to look for.
I had a 1989 Beretta with a 2.8, and I believe the fuel filter was under the car by the frame rail. If I remember right, it was on the driver's side, just inside the rail.
driver side between (if 4 door) the two doors ( or behide the dr. doors )it is a double threaded fuel filter. Their is also on in the fuel tank on the fuel pump.
it should be located under the rear seating area on frame of car [under] or it is back in front of the rear wheel axles [rear end] running across the so called rear end gear box or pumpkin

  • How do I know when it is time to change my fuel filter?

I recently purchased a 98 ford windstar. sometimes when I start it up it idles really rough and occasionally dies. when I am stopped (in gear) and I give it a little gas, the tackometer goes up, and then down under 500 rpms and the oil light flickers. it runs fine once I get moving, it's just when I am stopped or going really slow. I was going to put fuel injector cleaner in, but I figured I would check the fule filter too. is there any way to tell if it needs to be replaced?
How do I know when it is time to change my fuel filter?
i would give this baby a complette tune up air filter pcv valve a gas filter plugs and wires and cap and then you know what you got going on under the hood . plus your transmission might need flushed unless you have a record of the last flush .
How do I know when it is time to change my fuel filter?
Since you don't know the mileage on the fuel filter a good gauge is power under load. If you are accelerating and it misses or does not have power that is usually the fuel filter. Because the engine is starving for gas. What you are describing is not fuel filter.
but a filter doesnt cost much.. so do it if you think it needs it. I agree with the guy above/below idk.. eather way
Check the maintenance record on your Windstar. If it still has the original fuel filter on it then have it replaced. If you do replace it, DO NOT use fuel injector cleaner on it until you've had a chance to run a full tank of gas through that filter -- injector cleaner can damage brand new fuel filters. From personal experience I can tell you that I follow my father's advice and have had my fuel filter replaced in every vehicle I've driven every 50,000 miles and have never had a problem. Some people may say that's overkill, but it's not that expensive to change out a fuel filter and a clogged fuel filter can leave you stranded on the side of the road somewhere, so why take the chance?
    Good answer LesterM

try and put a new air filter in it it may surprise you
the car is 9 years old..I am amazed at the number never tuned in 100,000 miles..How are the plugs? wires? air cleaner? Look at those first

this does require an special tool and is available at most auto parts stores. usually on the back of the tool package it gives an idea on how to use it. make sure that you are safe when replacing the fuel filter. use jack stands and protective eye wear. good luck

Try this website. Good answers to your question. Pictures too, guys like pictures!

My advice is get a manual for your truck buy one or try the library and read up on it. As far as special tools some years require it some don't. without knowing the year cant say for sure.

10 points! Can someone tell me step by step how to change a Fuel Filter on 92 GMC Safari?

10 points! Can someone tell me step by step how to change a Fuel Filter on 92 GMC Safari?
first unscrew the gas cap. then get a 20mm wrench and a 5/8 or 16mm line wrench. loosen both sides of the filter and put new filter on making sure the outlet side or arrow is facing torward the front of the vehicle. tighten lines and cycle the key a few times to build up pressure and check for leaks. start vehicle and again check for leaks

hi, first of i have never done this but bieng it under the car thats going to be one extra hard thing, any way, first thing you need to cut the fuel supply so it wont pour everywhere . if you have some slack in the fuel line you would need to put a 180 bend in the supply line and support it with a peg or some thin wire, then you would need pliers and press the clip on both sides and release the hose from one end if its a screw then unscrew, now some petrol is going to fall out , thats ok but if it doesnt stop then youv chocked the wrong side lool , any way then unscrew the house from the other side, and ur god to go u should have the filter in ur hands by know , and place the new filter with right side of the flow , but now put the fuel supply in first with it chocked , un chocke it after it is fixed in place as soon as you see petrol coming out from the other side chock it again with the peg, then put the other side in and check that both sides are secure and your ready for a road trip,. note: be care full not to smoke u will need a screw for an emergny to cut fuel line by screwing it in the hole with it bent all the way back, and a tight tie around the bent hose ether with thin twist wire , or clothes peg, good luck and dont smoke or use a lighter for light down there.

some say 35K some 60K i say never...dont fix it if its not broke..
When should a fuel filter be changed on a petrol injection engine?
often enough to prevent it getting blocked.
Different manufactures recommend replacing at intervals, usually between 40k and 100k. Most new cars don't even have a fuel filter

But the answer to your question is the more often the better.

I change a lot of filters at 40k and I've never taken one of and said to myself %26quot;this didn't need replacing%26quot;, they are always very dirty.

The only exception is if you run your car on premium petrol, they always look clean.
read your owners manual that should tell you

How do i change the Fuel Filter in my '92 Saturn SL2?

I've got the filter, and the little plastic tool ($10 from Autozone) to remove it, but I'm not sure how to go about it. What's the process? Do I need to crimp off the fuel lines before getting started so they don't leak out? Will I need to jack up the car to get to it underneath, or can I get to it from above? Thanks.

    Follow that link.

In the mean time I'll find some manual pages with photos for you when I find a few minutes to spare.

The following link has photos and precise directions. I'll e-mail you the directions, but I do it'll be a copyright violation if I copy stuff here word-for-word.

  • How do you change a pressurized fuel filter? (90 Olds Cutlass)?

Lots of people have questions about fuel filters on here, but they are for specific cars only. Our car is a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera %26amp; we've been told it has a pressurized fuel filter. So does anyone know how to handle changing one like that? OR I was actually trying to find some website that could walk you through it or have diagrams or something. But so far I've found nothing too helpful online for free. Any links or help would be appreciated. Thanks!
How do you change a pressurized fuel filter? (90 Olds Cutlass)?
pretty much any newer car that is fuel injection has a pressurized filter. on gm cars it usually has metal fuel lines than have compression fittings that you use a wrench to unscrew from the filter on the cutless it is probably under the car near the driver or passenger side somewhere near mid section of the car. On top of the engine you should see what look like valve stem cap for a tire take off the cap and with a screw driver push down inside to release the pressure cover it with a rag to prevent being sprayed with fuel and then remove the fuel filter and replace.
How do you change a pressurized fuel filter? (90 Olds Cutlass)?
simple disconnect the fuel pump, assuming its a electric pump disconnect the power source
disconnect battery, look on the fuel rail on top of engine, there will be a valve stem cap on top of rail which is a pressure port for fuel injection rail, pressure can be checked and relieved at this connection, then you may remove filter.pop your gas cap also, this will relieve any pressure in tank.
ON THE ENGIN THERE IS A FUEL RAIL ON THE FUEL RAIL THERE IS A AIR FITTING THAT LOOKS LIKE A THE AIR FITTING ON A BIKE TIRE TAKE THE CAP OFF AND RELEAVE THE PRESSURE, THEN LOOK UNDER THE CAR FOR A SMALL CANSTER WITH A LINE IN AND OUT IT WILL BE CLOSE TO THE FUEL TANK
